Join Kristina Arriaga - Trustee Meta Oversight Board, Delegate to the U.N. Human Rights commission and Congressional Appointee to the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom
Kristina is a proud conservative Cuban American woman who for the past three decades has passionately advocated for freedom worldwide. She was instrumental in the rescue of a Cuban woman and her two children being held hostage by the Castro regime when her husband defected. She also played an active part in the release of American Paster Brunson who was unjustly held in a Turkish prison.
She is currently the CEO of Intrinsic, Trustee in Meta's Oversight Board, Keynote speaker and an expressive rights activist.
In 2016 Speaker Paul Ryan appointed her to the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom, where she advocated for human rights in Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt, Nigeria, Turkey and other countries. Before the Commission, Arriaga was a member of the U.S. delegation to the U.N. Human Rights Commission and the executive director of a public interest law firm where she oversaw and won several freedom of religion cases brought before the U.S. Supreme Court, including Little Sisters of the Poor and Hobby Lobby.
Arriaga is the recipient of the prestigious 2017 Newseum Free Expression Award for her tireless work. She has appeared on BBC, MSNBC, C-Span, CNN and NPR, among others, and has lectured worldwide. Her 2020 op-ed for USAToday, "My family fled Fidel Castro's Cuba, where 'cancel culture' was deadly serious," went viral.
Since 2021 Arriaga has served in the inaugural international cohort of trustees for Meta's Oversight Board. Other members of the panel include a Nobel laureate, the former Prime Minister of Denmark, numerous academics and the newspaper editor who broke the Edward Snowden story.The board issues binding decisions on content moderation for Facebook and Instagram.
She is married to a Marine, lives in Alexandria, Virginia, has three adult children, a disobedient dog and two cats!
